Commenting following his response to the “Their Future: Our Priority?” report into childcare provision in Wales, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Early Years, Gareth Davies MS said:
“The childcare system here in Wales is broken.
“The UK has the fifth highest childcare costs in the world, which will be acutely felt here given the smaller pay packets of Welsh workers compared with other parts of the UK and the fact that nearly half of disadvantaged children live outside the Flying Start area.
“The Labour Welsh Government must admit that the system is broken, work to take on board this report’s recommendations, reform and update the overcomplicated Flying Start Scheme.”
