Commenting on the news that coroner in Wales wrote 41 “prevention of future death reports” with over half issued to Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Darren Millar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales said:
“It is scandalous that so many Prevention of Death Reports have been published in relation to a single Welsh Health Board.
“That such a volume appear to coincide with the period after Vaughan Gething took the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board out of Special Measures implies that the decision taken by the then Welsh Government's Health Minister could have contributed to the failures that prevented learning from deaths.
“The people of North Wales are fed up with the apparent inability of the Welsh Government to get to grips with the challenges faced by the NHS in the region. We need an independent inquiry to deliver the improvements that patients so desperately need.”
