Commenting on the news that the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) is holding an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of more than 280 rugby clubs with a view to governance reform, Welsh Conservative Shadow Sports Minister, Tom Giffard MS said:
“This EGM represents a vital opportunity to fix longstanding issues and restore trust in a streamlined, modernised WRU.
“I wholeheartedly agree that we need to see more independent members and women on the board to widen the perspective and ensure that grievances are dealt with more quickly in future.
“What fans, players and communities along the length and breadth of Wales who love the game want to see are these issues resolved and assurances that things have changed for the better.”
