Commenting on the reduction in bowel home test screening age from 51 to 50, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, Sam Rowlands MS said:
“This is a positive step that should be rolled out, when it is safe and effective, for HPV and prostate cancer saliva tests too.
“Early detection is key, but ensuring that excessive waits in the NHS are cut is just as important. Nearly half of all cancer patients in Wales still don’t begin their treatment within the target time.
“I would encourage Labour’s new Health Minister to focus on NHS recruitment, coupling this drive with incentives like Welsh Conservative calls to refund tuition fees for healthcare workers that stay and work in Wales.”
