Commenting following his Topical Question to the Finance Cabinet Secretary on the £157m allocation ‘to support the First Minister’s priorities’, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance and Local Government, Peter Fox MS said:
“Simply funnelling more money into the Welsh NHS, without a root and branch review of that funding will not address the long-term challenges we face.
“In the Labour Welsh Government’s announcement, there was no extra funding for social care that desperately requires a larger allocation if we are to bear down on excessive NHS waiting lists here in Wales.
“The Welsh Conservatives are seeking clarity as to the full nature of this funding so that it can be scrutinised properly and directed toward the Welsh people’s priorities.”
