FA cup replays: Welsh clubs will close out

Responding to the FA’s decision to remove FA Cup replays in the competition, Laura Anne Jones MS, Shadow Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, said:

“It is extremely disappointing that the FA have taken the decision to change the format of the FA Cup, a decision that will hurt all clubs outside of the Premier League.

“From a Welsh perspective, Swansea, Cardiff, Newport and Wrexham will all feel the negative financial impact of this agreement.

“I urge the Cabinet Secretary for Culture to write to the FA to stand up for football clubs in Wales. The FA must see sense and reverse this polarising decision for the sake of clubs across the Football League.”
