Responding to the Chancellor’s decision to scrap planned changes to the social care system in England, denying Wales a Barnett consequential of up to £60 million, Dr Altaf Hussain MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Social Care said:
“Labour has broken yet another promise, this time to those who will rely on a strong and fair social care system.
“This decision will have significant consequences for people across Wales as we are denied tens of millions as a result of Labour’s scrapping of this common-sense plan, authored by Sir Andrew Dilnot and adopted by the Conservatives.
“Labour ministers need to stand up to the Chancellor to ensure that our struggling social care system, here in Wales, is not denied these vital funds.”
