The Labour Government have no plan to tackle soaring absenteeism

Responding to the news that figures show 40% of secondary school pupils in Wales missed, on average, an afternoon a week of the last school year, Tom Giffard MS, Shadow Education Minister, said:

“Labour continues to drop the ball after 25 years in charge of education in Wales.

“The Labour Government have no plans to tackle soaring absenteeism in Wales, the shocking decline in education standards, the worst Pisa results in the UK or the rising incidences of violence plaguing our schools.

“Labour’s record in Wales on education is a stark warning for the rest of the UK on what a Labour Government will look like in Westminster.”
