“The continued and unprecedented rainfall is severely impacting Welsh farmers and agriculture. Crops haven’t been planted, silage is running low, and livestock has been turned out onto sodden land.
“Therefore, I am pleased that my letter to the Cabinet Secretary urging the Welsh Government to support those most affected has yielded this response. However, Labour must do more, starting with the Sustainable Farming Scheme.
“This winter is an example of why farm subsidy support is so vital to protecting farm businesses and food production. This should be a stark reminder to the Welsh Government on the need to get the Sustainable Farming Scheme right for our farmers.”
