Following Spokesperson’s Questions to the Labour Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for North Wales, Gareth Davies MS highlighted that the electrification of the North Wales Mainline has been seemingly abandoned by Labour, dashing hopes for economic growth and improved connectivity across North Wales, leaving communities feeling overlooked and frustrated.
Commenting, Gareth Davies MS, said:
“The previous UK Conservative Government had promised the electrification of the North Wales Mainline. Yet, despite all the talk of two Labour Governments working together for Wales, it seems these much-needed improvements have been quietly shelved under the new UK Labour Government.
“Last week, the Labour Chancellor delivered a 5,000-word speech on economic growth, but Wales was mentioned only twice. This glaring omission signals that the levelling-up agenda has been scrapped.
“For the past 26 years, the Labour Government has continually let down the people of Wales. With two Labour Governments on either side of the M4, it appears things are only set to get worse.”
