Commenting following his exchange with the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Cabinet Office where she refused to change tact on the reduction in business rates relief from 75% to 40%, unlike in England where relief remains at 75%, Peter Fox MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Finance Minister said:
“I was bitterly disappointed to hear the new Cabinet Secretary confirm Vaughan Gething’s Labour Welsh Government’s refusal to reverse the damaging relief cut for Welsh businesses.
“The Labour Government, with the support of Plaid, have effectively doubled business rates, when they were already the highest in Britain.
“The Welsh Conservatives are the only party listening to Welsh businesses and want to see the retail, tourism and hospitality sector supported, not taxed excessively as they are under Labour.”
