Responding to the news that only 49% of children in Butetown were offered a place at their top choice for this September, compared with 88% across the city as a whole, Laura Anne Jones MS, Shadow Education Minister, said:
“It astounds me that less than half of pupils in Butetown Cardiff are offered their preferred school places.
“Education is clearly not a priority for this Welsh Labour Government. Labour’s cuts to the education budget have created an education crisis in Wales and this is having a direct knock-on effect to schools.
“The Welsh Conservatives would ease the workload pressures in our schools with our plan to recruit 5,000 more teachers and save Labour’s lost generation.”
