Responding to the statement from Labour’s Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Climate Change Minister, said:
“I find it incredibly hypocritical for the Labour Government to talk up food sustainability when they have consistently failed to back Welsh Conservative plans that would have ensured as much.
“Just last year Labour and Plaid downvoted a Welsh Conservatives’ Food Bill that had food security and sustainability at the heart of it.
“Whilst Welsh Conservatives offer a wide range of policies to boost food security and productivity in Wales, the Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru cooperation deal resulted in a communist style Sustainable Farming Scheme that would see the state tell farmers how to farm, massively reduce food production, and harm sustainability. And now Welsh Government wants business owners to go on Sustainability, Decarbonisation and Adaptation training!”
