Responding to the news that the cost of replacing a rotting south Wales hospital roof has been estimated to be about £20m, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, said:
“With the maternity unit closed in September for 12 weeks and now the wider hospital estate requiring £20m of repairs to its roof, this must be very worrying for patients in the area.
“After a survey identified this issue in 2019, it astounds me that work had not been planned sooner.
“I am concerned that hospitals of a similar age across Wales will suffer similar problems due to Labour’s neglect to the health service in Wales.”
