Responding to his contribution in the Senedd to the Labour Cabinet Secretary for Education, Tom Giffard MS, Shadow Education Minister, said:
“Labour's plans for VAT on private schools would mean an influx of pupils into the state sector. Labour's Shadow Minister Emily Thornberry has already admitted it would mean larger class sizes.
“Now, we can reveal that the policy could cost Welsh schools as much as £18m, an eye-watering amount that our schools can ill-afford.
“After 25 years of a Welsh Labour Government, we have the worst educational outcomes anywhere in the UK, and this policy will only add to the significant pressures facing our schools.”
