Commenting on a Welsh Conservative Written Question response revealing the £3,702,209.44 cost of specialist external legal advice for the First Minister(s), Welsh Government ministers and officials in their engagement with the UK Covid Inquiry, Andrew RT Davies MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives said:
“The Labour Welsh Government already has a fully funded legal department. Labour ministers shouldn’t be paying for external advice to help them avoid questions on their handling of Covid.
“This cash would have been better spent bolstering our underfunded Healthcare Inspectorate to cut Wales’ long hospital inspection backlog.”
