Commenting following the Labour Welsh Government’s Statement in the Senedd today on Welsh NHS waiting lists, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“The record waiting lists we’re seeing demonstrates Labour’s failure to get to grips with the long-term challenges in the Welsh NHS.
“But behind every statistic is a person, waiting for treatment longer than they should, often in pain and with their life on hold. Despite Labour promising to eliminate the longest waits in March, treatment waits of two years or more have actually grown for five consecutive months.
“Labour’s failure stems from their obsession with headline-grabbing short-term thinking over long-term planning. The Welsh Conservatives would start by scrapping restrictive NHS guidance that blocks cross-border and cross-sector collaboration to bring down waits.”
