Commenting on the latest statement by the Labour Government on home education guidance, Welsh Conservative Shadow Education Minister, Laura Anne Jones MS said:
“While some guidance and safeguarding for home education is necessary to ensure that children do not fall behind in their studies, parents and guardians across Wales often see the benefits of the practice. They should not be impeded from making the positive decision to home educate.
“Welsh Conservatives oppose placing undue restrictions on home educators, because parents know far better than the state when it comes to doing what’s best for their children. Parental choice should be respected.
“We know that the Labour Education Minister has a track record of ignoring parents, we know he doesn’t like to listen to their concerns.”
