“After spending more than £1bn on the South Wales Metro it is deeply concerning for it to receive such strong criticism from the man who conceived the idea and quite frankly does not fill anyone with much confidence in relation to the future of the South Wales Metro.
“This is typical of Labour’s poor transport planning, with a further £125m given to bailout TfW and more than £800m being spent on new train stock, the cost of their failings continues to stack up with very little light in sight at the end of the tunnel.
“It is high time that commuters in Wales see significant improvement to the service which is currently not fit for purpose and receive a positive return on Labour’s investment of taxpayers’ money.”
