“I’m delighted that the people of Wales and the rest of the United Kingdom have delivered a majority for our Prime Minister to get on and deliver Brexit – ending nearly four years of uncertainty and giving clarity to businesses and the EU that the UK will be leaving the European Union by the end of January.
“Boris Johnson has delivered for us before and will deliver for us again, getting a trade agreement in place with the EU by the end of 2020, ending the uncertainty of a no-deal Brexit.
“After winning seats like Delyn and Clwyd South we now have the joint largest number of Welsh Conservative MPs in Parliament, to help ensure that a positive voice for Wales is heard loud and clear in Parliament. It is clear, that by wining Bridgend and Ynys Môn, which haven’t had a Conservative MP for 32 years, that the people of Wales want to get Brexit done and that’s what we will do.
“I especially would like to welcome Sarah Atherton, Virginia Crosbie and Fay Jones the first female Welsh Conservative MPs elected. I know that these new MPs will work hard for their constituents, their communities and their country.
“Boris Johnson ran a very positive campaign, setting out clearly what future UK and Welsh Conservative Governments would achieve and now we can get on and unleash Wales’ potential creating more jobs, and ensuring long term funding for our Welsh NHS.
“I’d like to thank everyone who voted Welsh Conservative and to all our candidates who fought so hard for every vote. We now need to refocus ahead of the Welsh Parliamentary elections in 2021 and ensure that this failing Welsh Labour Government, who have been running our health service for the last twenty years, are held to account and the people of Wales get the services they deserve.”
