Commenting on findings from the UK Covid Inquiry today, revealing a lack of adequate PPE for NHS staff in Wales, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“The findings from the UK Covid Inquiry today paint a picture of a completely unacceptable situation for NHS staff in Wales who were put at risk due to failings surrounding PPE.
“To watch a former Labour health minister shrug off a near-immediate shortage of gloves for nurses putting themselves in harm’s way, due to insufficient stockpiling, was particularly disappointing.
“Today’s revelations add further weight to the argument put forward by the Welsh Conservatives that we need a Wales-specific independent inquiry to fully scrutinise the Labour Welsh Government’s handling of the pandemic.”
