Commenting on the news that Wylfa in Anglesey has been designated the preferred, first choice site for a new large-scale gigawatt mega-nuclear power plant, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Economy and Energy, Samuel Kurtz MS said:
“This is fantastic news and represents a huge vote of confidence in Wales from the UK Conservative Government.
“The decision to earmark Wylfa as the site for a large-scale gigawatt nuclear power station will benefit Wales through jobs and supply chain opportunities. This will give a substantial boost to our economic prosperity while strengthening the UK’s energy security in a more uncertain world.
“It’s vital now that this good news is welcomed by the Labour Government in Cardiff Bay, who must ensure that Wales is developing the right skills to fully benefit from this exciting opportunity.”
