Commenting on the publication of the Senedd Sport Committee report into the WRU, containing extracts from the 2021 independent review into the women’s game, Welsh Conservative Member on the Sport Committee and Shadow Sports Minister, Tom Giffard MS said:
“This report highlights much of what we already know about the unacceptable behaviours that existed within the WRU and while progress has been made, the WRU are right to admit that there is much more work to do.
“I am glad to see that some of the 2021 independent review is now in the public eye. However, the Labour Sports Minister could have called for this review to be published sooner, but instead she chose to allow the WRU to keep issues under wraps.
“There is no evidence to suggest that Dawn Bowden made any efforts, publicly or privately, to provide transparency in the interest of improving the situation for women across Wales – which is an incredible disappointment.”
