Commenting on the flooding incident in Skewen, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Janet Finch Saunders MS said:
“For Skewen to be flooded twice in one year is devastating for the community.
“The mine shaft issue has been identified for some time and this latest flood emphasises how vital it is that improvements and repairs are undertaken as quickly as possible by the relevant authorities.
“It’s vital the Coal Authority, Neath Port Talbot Council, Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales pull their finger out and work together immediately to ensure the people of Skewen do not face such traumatic circumstances again.”
