The Welsh Conservatives are the friend that farmers need in Wales

Responding to the news that farmers lit bonfires on farms around Wales on Monday evening to highlight the importance of agriculture before the general election, James Evans MS, Shadow Rural Affairs minister, said:

“In its current form, Labour’s Sustainable Farming Scheme would irreparably damage the agricultural sector in Wales.

“The farmers I regularly speak with have major concerns about tree planting, common land and tenant farmers. We need to have more detail from Labour over changes they are going to make to the SFS.

“The Welsh Conservatives do not take farmers for granted like Labour and would make sure we have a scheme that works for our farmers, not against them and safeguards the future of the industry.”
