On Earth Day, the Welsh Conservative are reiterating our calls for wider use of sustainable Welsh wool as an alternative to unsustainable ‘fast fashion.’
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Climate Change Minister, Janet Finch-Saunders MS said:
“The fashion industry does need an alternative to the kinds of synthetic textiles that dominate the clothing market, producing up to 10% of global carbon emissions. Those garments typically do not last and end up in landfills.
“I think Earth Day is an exciting opportunity to reiterate my call to encourage people to help the climate while also supporting local businesses, by opting for clothes made from Welsh wool, as a sustainable, fashionable fibre for Wales, the wider UK and the rest of the world.
“We are in a unique position here in Wales, we have an abundance of sheep that have the potential to provide huge numbers of natural and high-quality garments.”
