Commenting on the news that the Welsh Labour Government is considering increasing the age at which a free bus pass is given, Shadow Minister for Business, Economy and Infrastructure, Russell George AM, said:
“The Welsh Labour Government needs to carefully consider all the potential negative impacts of its proposal.
“Bus transport for those who are unable to drive can be a lifeline, and with bus routes being cut continuously across Wales, this is another blow to many vulnerable communities.
“Welsh Conservatives would see more bus passes given out in Wales, not a cut-back. With our Green Card scheme, we want to ensure free bus and discount rail transport is available to 16 to 24-year-olds too.
“Today’s news has come only weeks after the First Minister pledged to work with public transport to ease congestion on the M4, but to limit the people able to access the services is another cruel blow to commuters and transport users.”
