The Welsh Conservatives have launched a petition to give people a say on Keir Starmer’s Labour UK Government’s decision to end the universal Winter Fuel Payment, denying an estimated £110 million from Welsh pensioners while Labour in Wales spend £120 million on creating more politicians.
Commenting, Andrew RT Davies MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives said:
“With the cap on energy bills raised by the regulator, Labour’s unforgivable decision to scrap Winter Fuel Payments risks creating a fuel poverty crisis among pensioners in Wales, where we have an older population.
“Labour must reverse their decision and keep pensioners warm this winter.”
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Economy and Energy, Samuel Kurtz MS said:
“As Labour’s promises to cut energy costs lie in tatters as prices rise, one of their first acts was to shamefully cut winter fuel support for pensioners, showing they have the wrong priorities.
“That's why we've launched a petition so the people of Wales can send a message that we will not tolerate government-sponsored fuel poverty.”
