Commenting on the news that teachers have rejected a revised pay offer by Labour, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Education, Laura Anne Jones MS said:
“I am disappointed to see that Labour have once again failed to offer a satisfactory pay increase for our hard-working teachers in Wales.
“The Labour Government receives £1.20 for every £1 spent in England for education, yet rather than sort longstanding issues affecting our schools like the retention of teachers, the recruitment of core subject teachers and their working conditions, Ministers have instead chosen to squander hundreds of millions on vanity projects.
“Jeremy Miles has control of the levers that would enable him to make the very changes that teachers are calling for. He needs to stop passing the buck on to the UK Government and accept that he is to blame here.”
