Commenting following a Topical Question in the Senedd on Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s revised special measures framework, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“I remain unconvinced that the Labour Welsh Government have a plan to fix the longstanding issues in the NHS in North Wales.
“We need a sustainable long-term plan to get Betsi out of the mess it is in and we can start by boosting staffing numbers and spending the full Barnett allocation for health on the Welsh NHS, which Labour still does not.”
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales, Darren Millar added:
“The people of North Wales have been let down by a Welsh Government that has failed to improve the situation for patients covered by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
“This new framework includes unacceptably poor targets and continues to allow political interference in decision making around special measures.
“We need an independent and transparent process to decide what interventions Health Boards need, and to ensure that the voice of patients and their lived experiences is heard.”
