Welsh Conservatives have today welcomed the extra boost for the events sector in Wales with a world-leading government-backed insurance scheme worth over £750 million being announced by the British Government.
Commenting, Shadow Minister for Finance, Peter Fox MS said:
“The Covid pandemic represented the biggest shock to the British economy in 70 years and the events industry has been one of the hardest hit sectors, with it being one of the last to reopen.
“Wales’ events sector supports tens of thousands of jobs across the country, and I know organisers are raring to go now that restrictions have been lifted.
“This new British Government-backed insurance scheme is a much-needed peace of mind as we resume Wales’ world-famous events – from live music in Cardiff to food festivals in Abergavenny – with full confidence.”
Also commenting on this, Shadow Minister for Economy, Paul Davies MS said:
““The UK Government has supported the Welsh live events sector during this pandemic with tens of millions of pounds of funding and now they can finally get on the road to recovery.
“Our events industry is not only vital for the economy and jobs; but they also help to create some of our best memories with friends and loved ones and after the difficulties of the past 18 months, it’s high time we saw smiles back on faces at Wales’ best events.”
