Commenting on the news that the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) is set to appoint its first female Chief Executive in Abi Tierney. Welsh Conservative Shadow Sport Minister, Tom Giffard MS said:
“Congratulations to Abi Tierney on her upcoming appointment, it is fantastic that the WRU has diversified after the worrying allegations coming out this year.
“I look forward to seeing how she will change the landscape of Welsh rugby for the better and further the progress being made by the recent reforms.”
Also commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Equalities Minister, Altaf Hussain MS added:
“It is great news to read this morning that Abi Tierney is set to become the first female Chief Executive of the WRU.
“I wish Abi every success in her role and I’m sure she will be an inspiration for many young ambitious women across Wales.”
