Commenting on the news latest NHS Wales statistics revealing an increase in the vacancy rate across the NHS to 5.4% in 2024, compared with 4.5% for the same month last year, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“We are sleepwalking further into a Welsh NHS workforce crisis with these figures.
“Medical, dental and ambulance staffing vacancies are rising, so it’s no wonder that Labour-run Wales’ emergency response times are worsening and waiting lists are the highest on record.
“The Welsh Conservatives have put forward a substantial workforce boosting plan with a tuition fee refund for healthcare staff at its heart, that Labour politicians sadly rejected. I would urge them to reconsider it now.”
