Commenting on confirmation that ten councillors have resigned from the Labour Party in Wrexham – the constituency of Labour’s Local Government Minister – Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Local Government, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, said:
“This shambles is another disaster for Welsh Labour and a glaring embarrassment for the party’s local government minister – who shares her constituency with these former Labour councillors.
“The resignations leave Wrexham council in turmoil and frontline services must now be urgently prioritised. These are the most important issues and Labour’s petty squabbling must not be allowed to detract from that.
“Local communities will be justifiably concerned and I urge Labour’s local government minister to ease worries and ensure this farce is swiftly put to bed.”
