Responding to new data showing overnight stays in Wales by Brits last summer were up on the year before, Tom Giffard MS, Shadow Minister for Tourism, said:
“While it is encouraging to see overnight stay figures improving, we cannot count on continued growth if Labour does not change course on the tourism tax.
“We know from the Welsh Government’s own data that a tourism tax would deter visitors to Wales, and the impact on many of our communities would be devastating.
“The Welsh Conservatives would support our tourism workers by scrapping the tourism tax, and by reversing the business rates relief cut inflicted by Labour’s recent Welsh budget.”
