Responding to the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales deciding against appointing former Labour Council Leader James Goudie KC to conduct the review into political bias at the Ombudsman’s office, Sam Rowlands MS, Shadow Minister for Local Government, said:
“This is the right decision from the Ombudsman, who risked undermining the probe with this appointment.
“It was clearly going to be unacceptable to have somebody with such clear political connections investigating political bias in the Ombudsman’s office.
“It’s vital that, whoever is appointed to conduct this investigation, they can command confidence in the process.”
