Following the debate on the general principles on the Local Government Finance (Wales) Bill, part of which removes the requirement for councils to public council tax changes in local newspapers, Sam Rowlands MS, Shadow Minister for Local Government, said:
“Within this Bill there is a simple question of transparency in local government.
“Council tax changes have a significant impact on household budgets, and these notices serve a purpose in ensuring that those who don’t or can’t access the internet can be made aware of those changes.
“I hope that at later stages of this Bill the Labour Welsh Government will reconsider their position on these notices.”
