Commenting on a Healthcare Inspectorate Wales’ (HIW) report into Heatherwood Court, a mental health facility in Pontypridd requiring “major improvement”, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Early Years, Gareth Davies MS said
“I was disappointed to see yet another report into a mental health service needing support that it clearly isn’t getting from the Labour Welsh Government.
“Poor standards of cleanliness, inadequate lifesaving training for staff and safety concerns due to issues with medication storage are just some of the problems identified at the Pontypridd mental health facility.
“My worry is that this is just the tip of the iceberg, which is why the Welsh Conservatives have called for Labour’s cuts to the mental health budget and the Healthcare Inspectorate to be reversed so that we can clear the inspection backlog, root out issues and improve services for the people of Wales.”
