Commenting on a statement in the Welsh Parliament on the Health and Social Care (Wales) Bill, which seeks to eliminate profit from the care sector and a letter from the Welsh Parliament’s Presiding Officer revealing that elements of the Bill are outside the devolved competence of the Labour Welsh Government, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Social Care, Dr Altaf Hussain MS said:
“Labour’s short-sighted Bill seeks to introduce socialism on steroids for the social care sector.
“On top of this, it is yet another example of a project being pushed through by a Labour Government that doesn’t even have the devolved competence to see it through.
“While none of us want to see taxpayers’ money padding the pockets of foreign sovereign wealth funds, Labour’s extreme ideological stance must be expunged from this Bill if it is to work, because eliminating profit from the care system will eliminate capacity and cripple the sector.”
