Commenting on the results of an RCN survey revealing that 80% of respondents stated that there weren’t sufficient nurses and that fewer than a quarter of all shifts in Wales have sufficient registered nurses, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“We have a staffing crisis in the Welsh NHS, minimum staffing levels need to be met or there is a serious risk to patient safety.
“After 25 years of Labour Government, the Welsh NHS has been cut, not once, not twice, but three times, with additional funds squandered on costly agency staff.
“The Welsh Conservatives would enact a substantial workforce plan with, at its heart, a tuition fee refund for nurses that stay and work in Wales after their studies.”
