Responding to the launch of the Welsh Government’s Heat Strategy and ‘Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru’, Samuel Kurtz MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Economy and Energy said:
“The Labour Government in Cardiff’s track record of owning things, such as Cardiff Airport, is lamentable. Inevitably it will cost Welsh taxpayers more, with very little to show for it.
“Wales should be at the forefront of cutting-edge renewables and energies, such as floating off-shore wind and hydrogen. But as always, this Labour government is chasing quick wins, rather than investing properly in future energies which would not only increase our energy security but would also increase job opportunities, strengthen our economy and give Wales lasting, long-term benefits.”
On changes to planning rules to favour heat pumps, Samuel Kurtz MS added:
“The Welsh Government haven’t been able to meet housebuilding targets and so additional criteria such as for heat pumps will see Wales’ housing crisis persist.
“To combat climate change and Wales’ housing shortage, pragmatism rather than dogma should be the guiding principle.”
