Responding to BMA Cymru Wales’ call for the replication of England’s junior doctor pay rise with a question to the Labour Welsh Government, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“Junior doctors and Welsh taxpayers deserve clarity from Labour ministers in the Senedd.
“Will the consequential funding that the Labour Welsh Government is set to receive for the new pay offer for junior doctors in England be replicated in Wales?
“Simply paying doctors more, however, is not enough in and of itself. We need a substantial workforce plan to attract and recruit the talent the Welsh NHS needs and we should start by refunding the healthcare tuition fees of those who stay and work in Wales.”
