Commenting on the news that discharge delays have meant that 1,594 people who are fit to leave remain in Welsh hospitals, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“The Labour Welsh Government have the wrong priorities.
“It can’t be right that £120 million has been earmarked by Labour, with the support of Plaid Cymru, for the creation of 36 more politicians when we could be investing in more doctors and nurses to cut assessment delays in the Welsh NHS and save many millions in long run.
“The Welsh Conservatives brought forward a motion in the Senedd to heed the warnings of the Healthcare Inspectorate in January, particularly around social care transfer delays, but Labour voted against our plan.”
