Responding to the announcement of a ministerial advisory group for NHS performance by the Labour Welsh Government, Sam Rowlands MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“Welsh Conservatives welcome the fact that the Labour Welsh Government is finally seeking some advice and reviewing their abysmal performance after 25 years running health.
“After six months of successive record-breaking totals for the number of patients waiting for NHS treatment, the equivalent of over 1-in-4 Welsh people, some reflection is long overdue.
“But what the Welsh NHS needs is a root and branch review, significant reforms and a substantive workforce recruitment initiative to reverse these trends and get to grips with the ever-growing backlog.”
