Commenting following his exchange with the Labour Welsh Government’s new Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, Peter Fox MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance and Local Government said:
“After 25 years of Labour, fresh ideas are needed to address the continuing decline of Welsh public services.
“You cannot address the backlog in social care and by extension the NHS, without empowering local government to deliver on the frontline.
“The local government funding formula is outdated and needs to be replaced with a sustainable model that promotes fairness across the board and delivers top-rate public services with local referenda to avoid punitive council tax rises for residents.”
