Speaking on BBC Politics Wales this morning, the Labour Welsh Government Minister for Delivery admitted that the deal with the Labour UK Government won’t bring down Welsh NHS waiting times.
Julie James MS said: “No, so we’ve got a mutual agreement with the new incoming UK Government that we will help each other to spread that good practice.”
Responding to the admission, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies MS, said:
“The Labour First Minister and Secretary of State for Wales have been offering false hope to the people languishing in pain on Welsh NHS waiting lists.
“Now the truth is out from the Labour Minister for Delivery that this deal will offer no respite for the thousands of people waiting here in Wales.
“The First Minister and the Secretary of State should apologise, swallow their pride and do what is best for the patients in Wales and get a mutual aid agreement that will use spare capacity in other parts of the UK – which their original announcement clearly believes exists.”
