Commenting on a letter signed by 47 organisations including many of the Royal Colleges, BMA Cymru and the Welsh NHS Confederation demanding work be done to reduce the impact of health inequalities, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, Sam Rowlands MS said:
“Labour has failed abysmally to address growing health inequalities in Wales.
“Sadly, a key determinant of the quality and speed of healthcare communities receive is their postcode. Labour’s artificial barriers, brought about by restrictive guidance, imprisons patients in their local area, regardless of nearby capacity.
“The Welsh Conservatives would break down these barriers to cross-community and cross-border healthcare by scrapping guidance that forces the exhaustion of local treatment options. This will cut waits and improve outcomes for all.”
