Responding to reports of a landslip from a coal tip in Cwmtillery, Joel James MS, Shadow Minister for Social Partnership, said:
“This slip is a devastating reminder of how important it is that we get on top of coal tip safety.
“Our former mining communities helped to grow Britain into a superpower, and it is worrying that now they have to live in fear of these incidents.
“It’s high time that a serious, funded plan is implemented by the Welsh Government so these issues can be rectified before we see even further devastation.”
