The Welsh Conservatives have responded to the Culture and Sport Committee's report highlighting the dire state of funding for culture and sport in Wales, warning that Labour’s 26 years in power has pushed these vital sectors to the brink.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Gareth Davies MS, said:
“Labour’s neglect has placed the future of sport and culture in Wales at significant risk - two sectors that are vital to our communities and our national identity.
“Wales’ culture and sporting traditions are part of who we are. Yet, Labour’s funding cuts have created a crisis that endangers our cultural and sporting future.
“Unlike Labour, the Welsh Conservatives recognise that culture and sport are not just part of our heritage but key to our future. We need to see a firm commitment from Labour to ensure that Wales doesn’t fall further behind other nations in cultural and sporting achievements.”
