Commenting, the Shadow Minister for Environment and Rural Affairs – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – said:
“Welsh Conservatives welcome NFU Cymru’s move to explore a legal challenge to the Welsh Labour Government’s decision to introduce all-Wales NVZ regulations.
“The Labour Government’s own regulator – Natural Resources Wales – has warned that the proposed new water rules will have the perverse outcome of making water quality worse, which is an unacceptable situation in the fight against pollution.”
The Shadow Minister said that Welsh Conservatives would implement the proposals put forward by Wales Land Management Forum sub-group focused on tackling agricultural pollution, adding:
“Labour promised Welsh farmers that the lazy ‘cut and paste’ much-discredited EU regulations would not be introduced during the pandemic and they should stick to their word, before introducing a more proportionate and effective set of proposals to tackle water pollution.”
